History 
In 1974 September 22nd Executive Committee of Catholic Association, Archdiocese of Verapoly decided to form a Youth Wing of its own. The first meeting was held at St. Albert’s College, Ernakulam. A Youth Council was formed with its chairman as Mr. Antony M Ambatt.
Fifteen (15) eminent personalities were elected to the Youth Council.

The first meeting of the first Youth Council was held in Infant Jesus School Hall, Ernakulam on October 13th of 1974. The Youth Council passed. The Youth Council decide to create an independent Youth Wing with its own Byelaws and Units. The Youth Council asked help from its Parent organisation - Catholic Association to organize seminars in every parish in Archdiocese of Verapoly to educate the the youth and everyone to understand the importance of a Youth wing. Youth Council also formed a sub committee to create the Byelaws.

In 1975 His Grace The Most Rev. Dr. Joseph Kelanthara appointed Fr. Fremius Kazhapally,OCD as the First Director to the new Youth Movement. The Byelaw committee submitted the draft report to the Youth Council. On 1975 November 22nd the Youth Council passed proposed Byelaw without any changes. On Novemeber 23 the Managing Council (Apex Body of Catholic Association) of the Catholic Association passed the Byelaw and awarded the status of 'Independent Youth Organisation of Catholic Association' and promised the representation of Youth Movement Leaders in the Executive Committee of Catholic Association. In 1975 December 28, the first Youth assembly was held in St. Xaviers College, Aluva in which representatives from more than fourty (40) parishes/units participated. There were more than 100 assembly members in the first assembly itself.



Milestones

1974 September 22nd Catholic Association formed a Youth Council with Mr. Anotny M Ambatt as the Chairman.
1975 December 28th: First Youth Assembly:Mr. Antony M Ambatt was elected President and K G Mathai was elected as General Secretary.
1976 Achieved IInd Place in Youth Festival (Yuvajansotav) conducted by the Kerala Catholic Bishop Council - KCBC.
1978 Antony M Ambatt was elected as the First State President of Kerala Catholic Youth Movement.


1978 The presence of the KCYM, Archdiocese of Verapoly in the agitation for the Fishers.
1982 Formed Action Council by the KCYM Verapoly against the Pathalam Bund and the various agitation programmes were well – known. 
1983 The protest against the Paizeen Net.
1985 Won first place in the State KCYM Youth Festival.


1986 The “ShantiYatra” – Peace Journey ended in Archdiocese of Verapoly.
1988 Division of Kottapuram from Archdiocese of Verapoly.
1989 First Youth Festival in Archdiocese of Verapoly.
1989 First Youth Meet in Archdiocese of Verapoly.


1992 The Island Development March ‘Deepu Vikanasan Jadha’.
1992 Protest against the Politics in School Campus – A 48 hour’s marathon Sathyagraha.
1994 First Yuvaprathipa Sangamam – Best YouthTalent Award – in Archdiocese of Verapoly.
1995 The National Youth convention in St. Albert’s School Ground, Ernakulam, Athideyar – KCYM Verapoly.


1999 August 10th: Inauguration of Youth Library.
2000 Rajatha jubilee year(25th Year Celebrations)– National Defense Minister George Fernandez inaugurated the programme.
2001 Youth meet which announced the world that we are the voice of the society - Noted by the number of participants around 5000 youths.
2001 Singing Christmas Star - A Christmas Carol programme organized with the help of CAC.


2003 Mr. James Augustine was elected as the State President.
2005 Noted by the numerous programmes for implementing Narendran Commission Report.
